Page75 Productions announces not for profit campaign organisation Good Law Project as Executive Producer for film investigating democratic backsliding
With the addition of Good Law Project’s (GLP) team of experts, Page75 Productions gains access to the team behind the lawsuit that has been filed against the Government to defend the rights of protestors.
Page75 Productions has been following a non-violent civil resistance group who is demanding the UK government stop licensing new oil, gas and coal projects in the face of the climate emergency. During this time the Government has been introducing new and stricter sanctions on their rights to protest which has seen them subject to arrests, being silenced in court and being handed disproportionate prison sentences.
‘Together with Good Law Project, we can increase the visibility and awareness of the challenges individuals are facing when trying to hold power to account. The support and expertise Good Law Project can bring to this project will be invaluable as we move towards the completion of the film and embark on sharing it with communities across the UK and beyond,’ Liz Smith, Director explains.
The partnership will not only span the creation of the film but will extend to impact campaigns to engage the public with the issues Good Law Project and Page75 Productions are championing.
‘This film addresses the chilling effect of the raft of draconian new protest laws affecting the democratic rights of all British citizens. Good Law Project has spearheaded a campaign standing up for protesters to defend the fundamental freedoms that underpin our democracy. This film is a platform to support those we work with to tell their story, unfiltered by the press, and in doing so connect to a larger audience,’ said Jolyon Maugham, Founder of Good Law Project.
The film is currently in post production and is expected to be released in the Autumn.
