REQUIEM FOR PROTEST II

On 26th November 2025 the judicial review challenging the proscription of Palestine Action began. Outside the court hundreds of people took part in the ongoing “Lift The Ban” protest organised by the campaigning group DEFEND OUR JURIES. This short film tells the story of what happened outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the first day of the hearing. It continues the story on from the emergence of DEFEND OUR JURIES as witnessed in our feature documentary THE LINE WE CROSSED and our previous short film REQUIEM FOR PROTEST.

The right to protest is a fundamental pillar of a well-functioning democracy. Despite a change of government, the repression of our protest rights continues unabaited and so we are continuing to document and report on this issue. We are an independent film production company here to bear witness to the democratic backsliding we are currently experiencing across the Western world. We receive no funding from corporations, “think tanks”, or individuals with vested interests. This independence allows us to report what we observe without self-censorship or agenda-driven constraints. We do our best to thoroughly fact check what we report. If you would like to support our work you can do so here.

The film was directed by Liz Smith and the music was composed by Kim Halliday.
